Twelfth Grade Is Not for Starting, It's for Finishing

One of the sentences I encounter most often in parent meetings and discuss at length is: "Ms. Martı, our child is now in 12th grade, and we'd like to start applying to universities abroad."
I find this approach completely understandable. Yet years of experience have taught us one thing very clearly: 12th grade is not the time to begin a journey, it is the time to complete a strategy that has been carefully built, stitch by stitch, over the years.
The world's leading universities are no longer looking for uniform files filled with good grades alone. They are looking for authentic stories that reflect a student's curiosity, goals, and growth over time. Compressing the entire process into the final year not only multiplies the pressure on our students — it also takes away the precious time needed to truly capture their potential on paper. Yet small, well-placed steps taken at the very start of high school can, by the time 12th grade arrives, significantly reduce the stress and allow students to move forward with confidence.
This is why we do not see the process as merely a matter of paperwork or application procedures. We make it a priority to meet with our students regularly, to genuinely get to know them, and to shape this journey together. Our goal is not to rush through a file at the last minute — it is to ensure that our students step into the future with confidence. Because we know that journeys begun at the right time always open the most beautiful doors.
